Teddy Bears all in a row in Macy's Christmas department.
Joe shopping in Macy's.
Sculpture at the bottom of Trump Tower at Columbus Circle and at the corner of Central Park. The subway exit comes up right under this sculpture.
Lobby of the Times-Warner building on Columbus Circle. The pedestal sculpture that's the center of the circle can be seen through the windows. Those hanging stars are huge.
Joe asleep on the train. He's in the top bunk.
One of my meals on the train. It's bar-be-que ribs. They were OK, but not wonderful. A little greasy to eat in public.
The beginning of the snow storm as seen through the window of the moving train.
This must be the next morning because the sun is shining. The snow was beautiful even if it did hold us up for 12 hours and eventually cause us to have to leave the train in Atlanta and board a charter bus back to Meridian.
This is in the station in Washington, DC. Snow is coming down fast and wet and will keep us there for a long time.
Another shot from Sunday taken from the train. It really was pretty.

The Financial District on Friday
Walter and Kathy at the Wall Street "Bull"
Bronze plaque on a building that's next to where the World Trade Center stood.
The Winter Garden. This is a glass courtyard that serves as a meeting place in the World Trade Center complex. It's really a spectacular place.
The exterior of the Winter Garden.
Statue of Liberty in the distance.
World Trade Center memorial.
More of the WTC Memorial. There was apparently one wreath for every person who died in the attack. This is just a very small portion of them.
The New York Stock Exchange Building.
W & K on the balcony at Tiffany's on Wall Street.
Trinity Church on Wall Street. This is the church with the bell tower which I went into on my last visit.

Images from The Met
Today was the Metropolitan Museum day. This is one of the largest art museums in the world, and there's more in it than can possibly be seen in a day's time. This is from the Egyptian exhibit. There were a bunch of these statues, and they're larger than life size.
This is a square grand piano from 1902, and it's the most ornate one I've ever seen. The keys are mother-of-pearl.
An Andy Warhol painting of Mao. You can get a sense of scale from the woman who walked into the picture just as I was taking it.
Three suits of armor for knights and their horses. It all looks very heavy and cumbersome.
This circle of mirrors is about 10 feet tall and has a very strange effect n your vision as you walk up to it.
Kathy giving me the eye as she's calling Joe to find out where he is in the museum. She and I were worn out and ready to leave.
The ceiling in the grand entry of the museum. It's a very, very large space.

More NYC Wednesday
This is a "crystal sofa" which I saw in a famous crystal shop. Pretty bizarre and uncomfortable looking, and I didn't even ask about the cost.
Wednesday in NYC
Walter bought both of us a hat (can't remember what they're called) like the kind that Pop used to wear.

On the Train
This is the train (and bus) station in Meridian. It was actually very nice and looks pretty new.
Here's our train as it was pulling into the station in Meridian, MS where we had to go to catch it.
We brought a basket of fruit and cookies, and Joe picked one of his prized camellias to decorate it. He's sitting in our Viewliner Roomette and I'm in the seat right across from him. There's a large picture window just to his left, and the sink and toilet are next to him on the right (left in the picture). The whole affair is really pretty small, but cozy and comfortable. The two facing seats fold down into a bed, and there's another bed that drops down from above. I took a 3 hour nap in the upper one this afternoon.
This is Joe washing his hands in the fold down sink. The water just collects in the basin and then drains out as you fold it up. The toilet is just below that. There's no privacy for that function in the roomette, but one does what one has to do.
This is the dining car. This picture is when we were there for lunch, and it's a little blurry because the train moved just as I was taking it. We just finished dinner in there a few minutes ago, and now we're back in the roomette relaxing. The train is stopped in the Atlanta station at the moment.
