This is the train (and bus) station in Meridian. It was actually very nice and looks pretty new.
Here's our train as it was pulling into the station in Meridian, MS where we had to go to catch it.
We brought a basket of fruit and cookies, and Joe picked one of his prized camellias to decorate it. He's sitting in our Viewliner Roomette and I'm in the seat right across from him. There's a large picture window just to his left, and the sink and toilet are next to him on the right (left in the picture). The whole affair is really pretty small, but cozy and comfortable. The two facing seats fold down into a bed, and there's another bed that drops down from above. I took a 3 hour nap in the upper one this afternoon.
This is Joe washing his hands in the fold down sink. The water just collects in the basin and then drains out as you fold it up. The toilet is just below that. There's no privacy for that function in the roomette, but one does what one has to do.
This is the dining car. This picture is when we were there for lunch, and it's a little blurry because the train moved just as I was taking it. We just finished dinner in there a few minutes ago, and now we're back in the roomette relaxing. The train is stopped in the Atlanta station at the moment.

There's room to RELAX?????? Somehow "relaxing in the roomette" doesn't sound too appealing! And frankly - I'm surprised the two of you aren't climbing on top for the ride of your lives!
ReplyDeleteI am delighted you were able to get away and enjoy life! Have fun!
Hugs and love to you both!
